Charlie Bowdre was a cowboy and gunfighter in the American Old West. He was born on November 8, 1848, in Georgia, and he became known for his association with the outlaw group known as the Lincoln County Regulators during the Lincoln County War in New Mexico.
Bowdre was described as a tall and muscular man with a reputation as a skilled gunman. He was one of the key members of the Regulators and participated in several gunfights during the Lincoln County War, including the Battle of Blazer's Mill.
In July 1878, Bowdre was killed during a shootout with law enforcement officers in Stinking Springs, New Mexico. He was shot multiple times and died from his injuries. Bowdre's death marked the end of the Lincoln County War and the demise of the Regulators.
Despite his outlaw reputation, Bowdre is often remembered as a loyal friend and a fearless fighter who stood up for justice during a turbulent time in the Old West.
